Bottom-up Fabrication of Graphene on Silicon/Silica Substrate via a Facile Soft-hard Template Approach

چکیده
In this work, a novel soft-hard template method towards the direct fabrication of graphene films on silicon/silica substrate is developed via a tri-constituent self-assembly route. Using cetyl trimethyl ammonium bromide (CTAB) as a soft template, silica (SiO2) from tetramethoxysilane as a hard template, and pyrene as a carbon source, the self-assembly process allows the formation of a sandwich-like SiO2/CTAB/pyrene composite, which can be further converted to high quantity graphene films with a thickness of ~1 nm and a size of over 5 μm by thermal treatment. The morphology and thickness of the graphene films can be effectively controlled through the adjustment of the ratio of pyrene to CTAB. Furthermore, a high nonlinear refractive index n2 of ~10(-12) m(2) W(-1) is measured from graphene/silica hybrid film, which is six orders of magnitude larger than that of silicon and comparable to the graphene from chemical vapor deposition process.

A Soft and Efficient Approach for Removal of Template from Mesoporous Silica using Benzene Sulfonamide
In this contribution, an effective and soft method for removal of template from nanochannels of mesoporous silica (MCM-41) is proposed. This method is based on chemically-modified solvent extraction which enhanced by means of an auxiliary organic compound, i.e. benzene sulfonamide. Template removal was performed in soft condition, i.e. in the presence of diluted sulfuric acid and at ambient tem...

In this paper, a facile method for preparing sub-micron spherical mesoporous silica by the sol-gel process and cationic surfactant cetyltrimethylammonium bromide (CTAB) as a soft template was reported. Moreover, the effect of surfactant concentration on the specific surface area and the total pore volume was investigated. The specific surface area, pore characteristic, morphology, chemical comp...
متن کاملHierarchical Phenolic Resin-based Carbons with High Surface Area and Pore Volume Obtained by Soft-templating and Activation
Introduction Advanced applications often require carbons with high surface area and hierarchical porous structures. In response to this demand some efforts have been undertaken to create materials, which effectively combine the properties of both activated carbons (high surface area) and ordered mesoporous carbons (tunable and well-developed porosity). While there are activation methods, which ...
متن کاملExperimental observation of the crystallization of hard-sphere colloidal particles by sedimentation onto flat and patterned surfaces.
We present a confocal microscopy study of 1.55 microm monodisperse silica hard spheres as they sediment and crystallize at the bottom wall of a container. If the particles sediment onto a feature less flat wall, the two bottom layers crystallize simultaneously and layerwise growth follows. If the wall is replaced by a hexagonal template, only layerwise growth occurs. Our results complement earl...
